This research project aims to locate faults in distribution lines using a method based on estimating the impedance seen from the substation. Progress in troubleshooting is a priority of the contemporary world when the demands of the competitive market are measured by high quality standards and international certification standards. Companies that sell and buy electricity services must be prepared to face any contingency that comes before the occurrence of a fault or any other eventuality. The fact of having a technique that allows troubleshooting, offers the possibility to locate it in the shortest time and solve the problem by avoiding sanctions on the vendor companies or providers of this service. Likewise, it avoids unnecessary costs qualifies service delivery infrastructure and protecting the circuit. To meet the requirements of companies that are responsible for providing or selling electrical services, this research project used as a troubleshooting tool method posed by the PhD. Murari Saha. This method is part of measures voltage and current in the steady state of fault fundamental frequency, obtained from the substation. On the other hand, the method takes into account the disadvantages that occur in distribution systems, the radial form of the circuits, topology inhomogeneous both in the caliber of drivers like the way loads are distributed, as their connection can be monophasic, biphasic or triphasic, overhead and underground networks.
