no ficción consiguió narrarla.
Decade of the eighties of the 20th century in Colombia: Non-fiction memory of some hallucinating violence Why to focus our attention on the eighties of the twentieth century in Colombia? Because we are convinced of its relevance in terms of our recent history and, in particular, by the way in which non-fiction literature managed to narrate it. Few decades shed as much light as this to understand, or at least reveal, what in our research work we call hallucinating violences. It is a decade that begins with a hope: the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Literature to Gabriel García Márquez (1982). And it closes with an assassination: that of the liberal pre-candidate Luis Carlos Galán (1989), as a prelude to another no less serious event: the kidnapping of ten influential citizens in the exercise of journalism and politics (1990). Between one event and another, there is a catalog of events whose relentless and frenetic nature was perhaps very complex to decipher at the time. To risk its examination, we rely on a memory in perspective, from which one can read between the lines what, by dint of sustaining itself on the power of words and their silences, derives in a succession of metaphors. How to discern the place that victimizers like Pablo Escobar and Carlos Castaño occupy in our narratives? How to clarify the fate of victims such as Rodrigo Lara, Alfonso Reyes Echandía, Guillermo Cano, Héctor Abad Gómez and Diana Turbay? In the absence of solid answers, this book suggests some views from those who sought to understand the incomprehensible in their stories and testimonies. In the interest of clearing the mist and encouraging critical dialogue, we appeal to an animal metaphor, Macondian in nature, perhaps to make us more even-tempered when reviewing a memory written by several hands, powerful in its symbols and resonances.
