Resumen
En el siglo XXI se demuestra que los desafíos a los que se está enfrentando el sistema
educativo son significativos, de gran exigencia y los contextos han dejado en evidencia que no se
encuentran aptos para asumir la globalización, el alcance y la necesidad de proteger los saberes
ancestrales de las comunidades indígenas del país.
Esta investigación plantea la preocupación de docentes y directivos docentes por los
estudiantes Wayuu que se ausentan de la institución abandonando su formación académica,
dicho planteamiento se realiza con el propósito de comprender la problemática de deserción en la
Institución Etnoeducativa #7 Paraíso Sede Apunimana del municipio de Riohacha en el
departamento de la Guajira. Alcanzando un impacto institucional por medio de la caracterización
del fenómeno social, interpretándolo a partir de la cultura Wayuu y diseñando estrategias
institucionales que lleven a mitigar la deserción en los estudiantes y asegurar su permanencia en
su proceso educativo.
Se realizó una investigación cualitativa con enfoque etnográfico con apoyo de métodos
etnográficos y técnicas de recolección de información como las entrevistas estructuradas. Como
conclusión, la deserción escolar es un fenómeno social que se debe observar de forma
multidimensional y esbozar alternativas de solución, allí se debe incluir las relaciones entre
familia, escuela y comunidad que probablemente aumenten el interés de los padres y su
comprensión de la importancia de la educación, para crear redes de apoyo y cuidado, resolver
dudas cotidianas y académicas, apoyada directamente por un currículo contextualizado y flexible
que responda a las necesidades del medio donde se encuentran.
