Knowing how to assess bilingualism in early childhood is an important concern that has been scarcely approached in Colombia even though there are some programs intended to provide bilingual education in the early years. Hence, the purpose of this monograph is to gather information that can support the assessment of bilingualism in early infancy, especially in Centros de Desarrollo Infantil in Pereira. Using bibliometric analysis, the current study gathers information regarding the assessment practices in early childhood bilingual education in different countries. By doing so, it has been found that the assessment of vocabulary knowledge plays an important role in letting researchers map children’s knowledge of a language.
